T-R42 TV Box is based on Android 4.2, RK3188 Quad-core, 2G DDR3, 8GB Nand flash. Once connected this item to the HDMI interface of TV, it will convert a regular TV into a Smart TV which works like a giant tablet.
It is imperative to install a modified version of XBMC to enjoy 1080p without problems. Unlike its little brother the K-R42, the T-R42 has some difficulties with some TVs. A fix will surely be made since it is an alternative ROM of the K-R42 which corrected the problem. Then, via WiFi, up to 720p no noticeable problem was found and in fact, the connection is rather stable. In 1080p, the network is 2.4Ghz, simple interference can make a movie jerk. Via the Ethernet port, everything is much better! Whether streaming or anything else, no problem occurs during playback and it’s nice!
The remote control supplied with the T-R42 is a great thing. Recognized without difficulty, you can directly navigate the menus without having to buy anything else.
Power on the T-R42 tv box with the power adapter in package
Unzip the flash tool to your desktop or other convenient location and locate the folder RKBatchTool1.6 – inside this folder is the flash tool program RKBatchTool and the USB drivers for the T-R42 – Don’t open anything yet!
Unzip the stock firmware you just download, and you will get a file named: RK3188_BOX_U42-1_BT4.0_20130819 (1).img or similar, this is the actual firmware file.
Next, you need your T-R42 and the mini USB – standard USB cable that came with the device.
The idea is that you should press the recovery button for a while, and then connect your T-R42 with your pc via the mini USB to USB cable.
When you have successfully connected your T-R42 to the computer you should hear a sound from windows telling you that a new device has been found. You can release the recovery button now.
The next bit is important… we don’t want windows to try and automatically install any drivers as we want to select the ones from the RKBatchTool1.6 folder.
Depending on which windows version you have the next bit will be different.
